Remember, it is the wax in the pores that helps improve glide, not the wax on the base or in the structure. Choose a stiff brush if a hard wax was applied or a medium-hardness brush if a soft wax was used. Brush the base from tip to tail until no more wax is removed from the structure. Next, use a soft nylon brush to get deep into the structure to remove any remaining wax. Finish with a horsehair base brush to remove any static charge from the base.
